Who we are
Iqony Sens – Iqony Sustainable Energy Solutions – develops, builds and operates renewable energy plants throughout Europe as an Independent Power Producer (IPP) and EPC service provider. Iqony Sens acts as an IPP in the solar and wind sectors. The EPC and O&M division includes both the construction and maintenance of the company's own solar and wind energy plants and also offers customers turnkey solar park solutions. We are actively and passionately committed to the expansion of renewable energy to create the future with 100% Good Energy.

Today
Solar and wind go hand in hand. Since 28 May 2024, Iqony's solar and wind business have been managed from a joint business unit. The subsidiary Iqony Solar Energy Solutions GmbH will become Iqony Sustainable Energy Solutions GmbH, or Iqony Sens for short.

Iqony Sens has been operating as Iqony Sustainable Energy Solutions GmbH since 2024.
New investor, new opportunities - for a future with 100% Good Energy. Since the beginning of 2024, our parent company Iqony has been owned by the Spanish infrastructure fund Asterion Industrial Partners. For Iqony Sens, this means one thing above all: being able to shape the energy transition even faster and more efficiently.
New ownership structures offer the opportunity to make existing strategies and structures fit for the future. As a new investor, Asterion provides growth opportunities, flexibility and stability at the same time. Optimal framework conditions for establishing efficient, scalable structures and processes. With these prerequisites, Iqony Sens wants to utilise the growth opportunities that arise from the integration of different technologies.
2023
Good Energy.
Our start in the independent power producer business.
Iqony Solar Energy Solutions is created: Until then, the company was known on the market as ‘STEAG Solar Energy Solutions GmbH’. As part of the reorganisation of our parent company STEAG, we operated as part of STEAG under the new name Iqony Solar Energy Solutions GmbH since 2023. This change of name expanded our room for manoeuvre on the financial markets and enabled us to enter the independent power producer business, whereby we aim to make significant investments in our own projects.
Despite the formal name change, our core values, our mission and the spirit of Good Energy remain unchanged as we continue to drive the expansion of renewable energy in Europe and beyond.
2019
A new era: SENS.

2019 marks the beginning of a new era: SENS. We have specialised entirely in energy solutions from renewable energies and opened up new markets and business models. After four years of continuous growth, we were acquired by Essen-based STEAG GmbH in mid-2019 and continued our successful journey under the name STEAG Solar Energy Solutions GmbH (SENS).
Market conditions have also changed drastically over time. The increasingly noticeable signs of climate change have brought the finite resources of our planet more into the focus of society. The phase-out of coal has proven to be one of the most important levers for curbing the climate catastrophe and has therefore placed a socio-political responsibility on us.
2003
More growth.
20 years after our foundation, we entered the world of renewable energies.
GILDEMEISTER Energy Solutions. In 2003, 20 years after its foundation, the company entered the world of renewable energies with the invention of the SunCarrier, a single-axis solar tracker. The further development of the SunCarrier and products such as the WindCarrier small wind turbine and the Cellcube electricity storage system soon followed under the umbrella of GILDEMEISTER AG.
The general conditions were not always ideal, but with a great deal of passion, commitment and creativity, the core business was secured and new growth was made possible. After the first large-scale PV projects between 2007 and 2011, the focus shifted to industrial and commercial customers by 2015 too.
1983
When it all started.
We specialise in the manufacture of components for general mechanical engineering.
The early days. When we started out in 1983 as a+f Stahl- und Maschinenbaufabrik GmbH, we specialised in the manufacture of components for general mechanical engineering. In 1996, the Gildemeister Group (now DMG Mori) acquired a majority stake in a&f Stahl- und Maschinenbau GmbH and took it over completely in 2003.
